Quest Professional Development:
Delivering Effective Professional Development

The goal of the PFT Health & Welfare Fund’s Professional Development is to improve student performance. We cannot improve schools and student achievement unless teachers are kept abreast of developments in research on teaching and learning.Quest professional development bridges the gap between research and practice and novice and master teachers. Educators need access to knowledge that supports and enhances their ability to help students achieve high standards. Professionals perform at the highest level when they have the appropriate knowledge and resources.

What’s Happening At Quest

The PFT Health and Welfare Fund is actively recruiting members for the second cohort of Site Based Professional Development Leaders. Site Based Professional Development Leaders are the critical link between research validated professional development and the classroom educator.

Heather Zadjel, Professional Development Leader for the PFT Health & Welfare Fund, was selected to attend the Japan – U.S. Teacher Exchange Program for Education for Sustainable Development, June 20 – July 2, 2017. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is “a vision of education that seeks to balance human and economic well-being with cultural traditions and respect for the earth’s natural resources,” according to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

“Well organized and extremely capable teacher. The material was well presented. I learned a lot!”
