Exemplary 4

  1. Reflection explicitly identifies a specific area of classroom instruction and effectively explains how the research concept was applied to improve the outcomes in the identified area.
  2. Explains why the specific area was selected, what changes were made to implement the concept and with whom the individual implemented the research concept.
  3. Examples (artifacts) are provided to highlight the effectiveness of the implemented research concept including: student response to the concept and what if any changes in the environment were attributed to implementation of the concept.
  4. Includes a discussion of the success or lack of success regarding implementation of the concept. In addition there is an explanation of the suspected reason for the observed outcomes.
  5. Reflection includes a statement regarding what, if any, changes will be made to improve upon implementation of the research concept and an explanation as to why the suggested changes will be useful.

Satisfactory 3

  1. Reflection clearly describes how the research concept was applied to improve outcomes in an area of classroom instruction. There is some discussion of at least two of the following: changes made to implement the research concept, with whom the concept was utilized, reason for selecting the identified instructional area.
  2. Examples are provided (artifacts) highlighting the effectiveness of the implemented research concept including: student response to the concept, and what if any changes in the environment were attributed to implementation of the concept.
  3. Reflection includes a discussion of at least one reason for the observed outcomes and a statement about the success or lack of success regarding the implemented research concept.
  4. Reflection includes a statement addressing what will be done in the future to effectively implement the research concept and provides at least one reason for the changes.

Emergent 2

  1. Reflection provides a working definition for the research concept presented and provides a statement of how it was used to improve outcomes in an instructional area.
  2. Reflection provides at least one example highlighting the effectiveness of the research concept implemented and student response (artifacts) to the implemented research concept.
  3. Reflection includes a statement about the success or lack of success when implementing the research concept.
  4. Reflection includes a statement addressing what will be done in the future to ensure effective implementation of the research concept.

Unsatisfactory 1

  1. The reflection provided does not provide enough information or suggest an understanding of the research concept presented.
  2. The reflection requires more details and examples stating how the research concept was used to improve outcomes for students.
  3. Reflection primarily discusses the impact of implementation of the research concept had on themselves, (the teacher) instead of the students.
  4. There is no discussion of the success or lack of success when implementing the concept, or ideas for improving outcomes in the future.
  5. The reflection does not have an attached artifact, or the artifact is blank.
